Why the date changes every year.

Black Friday comes from the US, where it's always the Friday after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday in November, which in 2026 is 26 November. That's why Black Friday always lands somewhere between 23 and 29 November. In the UK it isn't a bank holiday: shops are open as usual, and online the offers run around the clock.

How long does Black Friday last?

Officially, Black Friday is a single day. In practice, many shops run their offers across the whole of Black Week and keep them going until Cyber Monday. Some start earlier, others wrap up over the weekend, so there's no single end date. If you want to be sure, check the shop's own terms: they'll tell you exactly until when an offer or a code is valid.

What is Black Week?

Black Week is the week around Black Friday: in 2026 from Monday 23 November to Cyber Monday on 30 November. Rather than putting everything into one Friday, shops spread their offers over several days. For you, that means less of a rush and more time to compare prices before you buy.

When is Cyber Monday 2026?

Cyber Monday 2026 is on Monday 30 November, the Monday straight after Black Friday. It started out as the online counterpart to Black Friday in the shops. Now that most Black Friday offers are online anyway, for many shops Cyber Monday is mainly the last day of Black Week.

Tip

When you buy online, the Consumer Contracts Regulations generally give you a 14-day cancellation period, starting the day after you receive the goods, and that includes sale items. Bought something in Black Week and the price drops further on Black Friday? You can cancel within that period and order again. Some items are exempt, such as personalised goods, and the shop's terms will say whether you pay for the return.
