The brand is unusually direct about codes. About Cabaia
Cabaia was launched in 2015 by Bastien Valensi, who had already run an outlet website for big brands and a connected shop. His co-founder Emilien Foiret came from engineering and e-commerce. It became a French mission-driven company in 2021 and a certified B Corp in 2022 with a score of 92.9, well above the qualifying 80. It says about two-thirds of its backpacks and luggage use recycled plastic certified under the Global Recycled Standard, that most products are vegan and that single-use plastic has gone from its packaging. The bags are designed in France but made in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Turkey and Poland, which the help centre explains openly: it says no European factory could turn out its roughly 400,000 backpacks a year at a price that works. For a UK shopper there are a few practical realities. There is no Cabaia shop in Britain.
